including Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi,
Michelin and Atlas Copco.
Mining companies and mining
contractors also use AMT to extend the
functionality of their Enterprise Resource
Planning asset management systems. At
its heart is the Dynamic Lifecycle Costing
engine, which forecasts in real time every
maintenance event for an asset to the end
of its useful life. This enables asset
managers to identify potential issues and
take action early.
“We have always wanted our
products to be integrated with the
industry’s leading production, costing
and simulation systems and this
transaction does exactly that,” said
iSolutions Cofounder and Managing
Director, Graeme Elgie. “We are
convinced that the iSolutions product
suite will benefit from increased
investment and the sales and marketing
support which RPM can offer it right
around the world.”
Time for change
Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions has
announced a reorganisation of its
business units as part of the company’s
“planets” transformation programme.
As part of this, the current resource
technologies business unit will be
dissolved and its operating units
upgraded to full business units. As a
result, Industrial Solutions will have
eight business units, including mining
technologies.
“We are operating in a difficult
environment and want to make our
organisation faster, more flexible and
more efficient,” said Jens Michael
Wegmann, CEO of the Industrial
Solutions business area. The new
business units will have global
responsibility for the development of
their businesses, project management
and profit and loss. They will report
directly to the management board of the
Industrial Solutions business area.
Cutting it
Following ESCO’s expansion into the
Australian market in 2012, the company
has increased its workforce and added
new processes in order to service and
support the market. It has also
expanded and improved its product
offering, expanding into conical (point
attack) cutting drums with a new
heavy-duty conical tooling system
developed and implemented. The first
installation of this product was achieved
at a Queensland mine in late 2015.
ESCO now commands over 25% of
the Australian longwall market with its
shearer drum and cutting tools products
and is present at the prestigious flagship
mines of both New South Wales and
Queensland. ESCO products, including
shearer cutter drums, shearer picks and
shearer sprays, are in use by two of the
highest producers – achieving
production of 18 million tpy in 2015.
The ESCO underground
manufacturing and engineering facility
in the UK has recently undergone
changes to improve the customer
response time by centralising the
company’s underground division at one
location. This is expected to provide
improved coordination in all areas of
manufacturing to enable the company
to meet the supply and demands of its
global customers.
