Ken Albaugh, Xylem,
USA
, discusses the use
of the company's mine
dewatering technology
at two coal mines in
Indiana.
X
ylem technology has been used at Gibson County coal mines in
Indiana in the US for the past eight years, working with the team
to dewater two coal mines and manage water removal from the
face of the mines to the main sump and then to the mines’
surface. This long running and ongoing relationship has overcome a
number of challenges in managing unwanted water, enabling both mines to
run more efficiently in their goal to be low-cost producers in
room-and-pillar mining in the Illinois Basin. Xylem, through its Flygt and
Goulds brands in particular, devised a number of solutions to complex
dewatering challenges at the Gibson County mines.
