Encouraging collaboration
and commercialisation
METS Ignited, the new mining
equipment, technology and services
(METS) growth centre, and the
Cooperative Research Centre for
Optimising Resource Extraction
(CRC ORE) have signed a collaborative
agreement to work together to improve
commercialisation and collaboration
outcomes for Australian METS
companies. The memorandum of
understanding outlines a shared vision
and detailed work plan to engage the
Australian METS sector with the
activities of CRC ORE.
Joint activities planned for 2016
include: a roadshow to highlight
CRC ORE’s research; collaboration on
an innovation portal to help connect
industry; and an active role for
METS Ignited on CRC ORE’s
Implementation Council.
Mining in this year’s The
Sustainability Yearbook
Anumber of mining equipment
manufacturers have been included in
RobecoSAM’s 2016
The Sustainability
Yearbook
, which lists the world’s most
sustainable companies by industry
segment as determined by their score in
RobecoSAM’s annual Corporate
SustainabilityAssessment (CSA). Mining
equipment manufacturers, Caterpillar,
Komatsu and Sandvik all make the
yearbook, as do engine manufacturer,
Cummins, SKF, a global manufacturer of
bearings and seals, and global water
technology company, Xylem.
New COO for Martin
Engineering
Robert Nogaj has been named Chief
Operating Officer of Martin
Engineering. Nogaj will be responsible
for all facets of the company’s business,
including R&D, manufacturing, sales,
marketing and finance. “Our mission for
the coming years will be to keep
streamlining our business for continued
growth, building on the international
expansion that has led us to become a
truly global company able to supply and
service customers virtually anywhere in
the world,” Nogaj said in a press release.
“We are developing a wide range of new
products and strategies to address the
industry’s most difficult issues and
compete in the challenging markets that
are forecast for 2016 and beyond.”
Restructuring and refocusing
McLanahan has created a product
management and development team,
which has lead to changes to its corporate
structure. Cory Jenson, previously the
General Manager – Environmental, has
been promoted to Vice President – Global
Product Management and Development,
while Mark Krause, formerly General
Manager –Aggregate Processing, has
been promoted to Managing Director
– NorthAmerica. McLanahan has also
combined its US-based operating
divisions to create cohesive sales,
engineering and customer service teams.
The combination of the NorthAmerican
teams, similar to McLanahan’s other
global office, will allow the company to
better service customers, regardless of
industry or product line.
